Parchment paper

Can I use parchemnt paper to transfer pizza to the shelf? I find the dough used to slide it burns and sets off the smoke alarm when I have the oven door open

I experimented with this and you can use parchment paper as long as the sheet is smaller than the size of the pizza as the exposed sheet will scorch and then start to smell.
